FAQ
What do I need to consider when carrying Smart Baggage?
If you plan to check your smart baggage with Berways, please note that the lithium battery must be removed before check-in. This must then be carried in your hand luggage if the baggage is being transported in the cabin. Even if your smart baggage is to be transported in the cabin, the lithium battery must be removed before departure. Smart baggage with a built-in battery cannot be transported and is prohibited on board.
I've already booked my flight. How can I add additional baggage?
You can add an additional piece of baggage to your booking at any time via our website.
Are there any restrictions on the size, weight, and number of carry-on baggage on Berways?
Each passenger is allowed to bring one small carry-on baggage item (max. size 40 x 30 x 10 cm) on board. A larger carry-on baggage item can be added for an additional fee. On fully booked flights, we may ask you to check in your carry-on baggage. This is free of charge if the carry-on baggage meets the regulations.
Are there restrictions on the number and weight of baggage?
Each passenger can add and check in up to 2 pieces of baggage, with each piece not exceeding 32 kg.
What items can I carry in my baggage and what is prohibited?
For safety reasons, your travel baggage must meet certain requirements and restrictions. Special measures and regulations must also be observed.
- It is prohibited to carry items that could endanger the aircraft, onboard equipment, or people. This includes, but is not limited to, explosives, compressed gases, oxidizing, radioactive, corrosive, or magnetizing substances, highly flammable materials, toxic or aggressive substances, as well as liquid substances classified as dangerous goods according to regulations.
- The transport of lithium batteries or lithium accumulators, such as those commonly found in laptops, in checked baggage is not permitted. It is also prohibited to carry items that, due to their size, weight, or nature, are unsuitable for transport.
- Passengers are not allowed to carry any weapons, including firearms, edged weapons, or blunt weapons, in their carry-on baggage or on their person, as well as gas containers that could be used for offensive or defensive purposes. Ammunition and explosive materials are also prohibited. Gas lighters (Zippos) and e-cigarettes are prohibited as well. However, passengers may carry a single gas lighter on their person.
- Only in checked baggage may toy guns (plastic or metal), slingshots, cutlery, razor blades (both safety and open blades), commercial toys that could potentially be used as weapons, knitting needles, sports rackets, and other sports or leisure equipment that could be used as weapons (e.g., skateboards, fishing rods, or paddles), as well as any other sharp objects, be transported. This also applies to nail scissors, nail files, combs with handles, syringes (except for proven medical purposes), candles containing gel, shoe insoles with gel, snow globes, or similar decorations, regardless of their size or liquid content. To avoid injury, all sharp items must be securely and safely packed in checked baggage.
How can I transport bulky items?
I have sports equipment, is this okay?
If your sports equipment cannot be transported in compact containers as regular checked baggage, it will be considered declared sports baggage.
Sports baggage is treated as special baggage and must be packed separately. We recommend checking in sports equipment in a sturdy container. It must be clearly identified as sports baggage at check-in.
Please note that e-bikes are not permitted.
I would like to bring my sports weapon with me, how can I do that?
Can I bring musical instruments into the cabin?
Yes, with Berways, musical instruments can be brought into the cabin as carry-on baggage, provided they do not exceed the size limit for the booked carry-on baggage. Even if they slightly exceed the maximum size, the following musical instruments are allowed on board: clarinets, flutes, horns, oboes, violins, and trumpets.
Musical instruments such as guitars, if transported in a soft case, can only be carried in the cabin on an additional seat (extra ticket).
