Barrier-free travel
General information
If you have limited mobility or a disability and require assistance, please inform us at least 72 hours before departure.
Simply fill out the form at the bottom of this page and send it to fly @ berways.com
As the number of passengers with reduced mobility per flight is limited for safety reasons, we strongly recommend that you provide BERWAYS with the necessary information at the time of booking.
Support at the airport
If you require assistance at the airport, please also contact us at least 72 hours before departure. This will enable us to ensure that our external partners can organize the necessary assistance for you in good time.
If you would like to make use of this assistance, simply contact one of our official staff members at the airport or inform the staff at the BERWAYS check-in counter that you need help.
Many airports also have special mobility points that are well signposted. You can also get assistance and further information there.
Accompanying person
If you require assistance during the flight, you must be accompanied by an escort. We are unable to provide comprehensive care on board. The escort is not entitled to free transportation and must pay the full flight price.
Please contact us at least 72 hours before departure so that we can ensure that you are seated next to each other free of charge.
Medical equipment, devices, and medications
Wheelchairs and mobility equipment
Up to two wheelchairs or other mobility equipment per disabled passenger can be transported in the cargo hold. Ideally, these should be collapsible.
Please note that the size of the cargo hold and the permissible weight load may restrict the transport of electric wheelchairs or mobility equipment in particular. Battery-powered wheelchairs must be transported upright. Therefore, the dimensions of the cargo hold door may make loading impossible. In addition, the battery must be removed before departure and carried in the cabin.
For safety reasons, only wheelchairs with dry or gel batteries may be transported. Wet batteries are not permitted. In individual cases, transport may not be possible if no suitable loading aids are available at an airport.
A claim for carriage therefore only exists if the transport of the wheelchair or mobility aid is registered with customer service at least 72 hours before departure, stating the dimensions and weight.
Assistance dogs
Certified assistance dogs are of course allowed in the cabin and will travel with you in the passenger cabin. For safety and space reasons, however, you can only bring your assistance dog with you if you register it with our customer service department in writing or by telephone at least 72 hours before departure.
Pregnancy
Pregnant women may travel until the end of the 32nd week of pregnancy if they present a medical certificate (pregnancy log) confirming their stage of pregnancy. If the flight falls within the period after the 32nd week of pregnancy, BERWAYS may refuse carriage. This applies to the outbound flight even if only the return flight falls within this period. To avoid health risks, we recommend consulting your doctor before traveling.
