In our FAQ section you will find comprehensive answers to your questions about flights and traveling with Berways. Here we provide you with detailed information on baggage regulations, check-in processes, in-flight services and much more.

General

You can book a flight at www.berways.com.

If you have made your booking via www.berways.com, you can make changes via the login/sign-up page.

If you have booked your flight via another platform, please get in touch with the contact person from whom you purchased the ticket.

For safety reasons and to protect the health of pregnant passengers, the following regulations apply: Pregnant women up to 27 weeks before the expected date of birth can be carried on special flights without a certificate of fitness to fly. However, it may be necessary to present the maternity passport or a medical certificate to prove that the 27th week of pregnancy has not yet been exceeded. From the 28th week, transportation is no longer possible. Please note that these regulations may also apply to the return date. An exception can only be granted up to the 32nd week with a medical certificate.

You can use our free online check-in at any time. All you then have to do at the airport is drop off your baggage.

If you are authorized, you can use the check-in counter at the airport. You will be given the exact counter number on site.

No, Berways is there for everyone. If you require special assistance at the airport, please let us know in advance when booking. Please note that a certain degree of independence is required as we do not have any special attendants on board. Our aircraft are also only partially accessible.
Guide dogs: The airline may only carry two disabled passengers per flight together with a guide dog in the passenger cabin. Passengers are only entitled to carriage if the intention to take the guide dog with them was stated at the time of booking and confirmed by the airline. The carriage of guide dogs is free of charge.

You can book an XL seat at the time of booking or later.

XL seats are often emergency exits, where special guidelines apply. Some people are not allowed to sit at the emergency exit as safety regulations from the authorities prohibit this.

This applies to

  • Babies and children under the age of 14
  • People traveling with children under the age of 14 and babies
  • Persons traveling with animals in the cabin
  • Expectant mothers
  • Physically and/or mentally disabled persons
  • Persons with limited mobility due to their physical dimensions, illness or age
  • Persons who do not speak German or English

You must also be prepared to assist the cabin crew in an emergency. Our check-in agents and on-board staff are obliged to check your details for security reasons.

By purchasing the Flex option, you have the option of rebooking once free of charge (fare difference possible). In addition, we will refund the flight amount if we have not yet incurred any costs.

Tariffs and fees

Children & Animals

The transportation of unaccompanied children up to the age of 16 is not possible.

From the age of 16, children can travel alone.

Infants may only fly when accompanied by an adult. They may travel on an adult’s lap and do not require their own seat, alternatively you can book your own seat.

Babies under 14 days old are not allowed to travel.

If your child is older than two years or will be two years old at the time of the flight, you must book a separate seat for them.

Children from 2 to 12 years of age pay 85% of the fare plus taxes and fees.

Children under the age of 16 may only fly when accompanied by an adult with parental authority.

Infants can be transported in their own child seat in an additionally booked seat, provided this has been registered up to 48 hours before departure. The child seat must be fastened to the aircraft seat with the existing seat belt throughout the entire flight. The Römer King Quickfix, Maxi Cosi Mico, Maxi Cosi City and Storchenmühle Maximum child seats are currently generally approved. The approval of other child seats is possible under certain conditions. In all cases, the child seat must be certified and labeled accordingly. The Luftikid is also approved for some airplanes.

Animals of any kind are currently not permitted on our flights.

Baggage

If you wish to check in your Smart Baggage with Berways, please note that the lithium battery must be removed before check-in. This must then be carried in your hand baggage if the baggage is transported in the cabin. Even if your Smart Baggage is to be transported in the cabin, the lithium battery must be removed before departure. Unfortunately, Smart Baggage with a permanently installed battery cannot be transported and is prohibited on board.

You can add an extra piece of luggage to your booking at any time via our website.

Each passenger may take one small piece of hand baggage (max. 5 kg & 45 x 35 x 20 cm) on board. A larger piece of hand baggage can be booked in addition. On fully booked flights, we may ask you to check in your hand baggage. This is free of charge if the regulations for hand baggage are met.

Each passenger can check in up to 2 pieces of baggage, each of which must not weigh more than 32 kg

For security reasons, your baggage must meet certain requirements and comply with certain restrictions. Special measures and regulations must also be observed.

  • It is prohibited to carry items that could endanger the aircraft, the equipment on board or persons. These include explosives, compressed gases, oxidizing, radioactive, corrosive or magnetizing substances, highly flammable substances, toxic or aggressive substances and liquid substances classified as dangerous goods in accordance with the dangerous goods regulations. Dangerous goods
    The carriage of individually brought lithium batteries or lithium accumulators, such as those commonly used in laptop computers, in checked baggage is not permitted. – It is prohibited to carry items that are unsuitable for transportation due to their size, weight or nature.
  • Passengers are not permitted to carry weapons of any kind, including firearms, cutting weapons or impact weapons, or containers under gas pressure that can be used for offensive or defensive purposes, either in their hand baggage or on their person. Ammunition and explosive substances are also prohibited. Petrol lighters (Zippos) and e-cigarettes are also prohibited. Passengers may, however, carry a gas lighter on their person.
  • Only in checked baggage may toy guns (plastic or metal), catapults, cutlery, razor blades (both safety and open blade), commercially available toys that can potentially be used as weapons, knitting needles, sports bats and other sports and leisure equipment that can be used as weapons (e.g. skateboards, fishing rods or paddles) and any other sharp objects be transported. This also applies to nail scissors, nail files, handle combs and syringes (except for proven medical purposes), as well as candles with gel content, shoe insoles with gel content, snow globes or similar decorations, regardless of size or amount of liquid. To avoid injury, all sharp objects in checked baggage must be packed safely and securely.

If your baggage cannot be transported in compact containers, it will be checked in as bulky baggage. As long as it does not exceed a weight of 23 kg, it will be treated in the same way as normal baggage. Only the normal surcharge will be charged for each piece of baggage. You can take a maximum of 5 pieces of baggage weighing 32 kg per person.

If your baggage cannot be transported in compact containers, it will be checked in as sports baggage.

Sports baggage is treated as special baggage and must be packed separately. We recommend checking in sports baggage in a sturdy container. It must be recognizable at check-in that it is sports baggage.

  • Sports baggage up to 20 kg: golf clubs, skis and ski boots, snowboards, diving equipment, paragliders, sports weapons, high jump poles up to 450 cm, riding equipment

Please note that e-bikes are not permitted.

Sporting weapons, ammunition and objects that give the appearance of weapons, ammunition or explosive substances must be reported to the airline before departure. The carriage of such items is only possible if they comply with the regulations for the carriage of dangerous goods as cargo or checked baggage. Further details will be provided at the time of registration.

Yes, with Berways musical instruments can be taken on board as hand baggage as long as they do not exceed the dimensions of the booked hand baggage. Even if they slightly exceed the maximum size, the following musical instruments may be brought on board: Clarinets, flutes, French horns, oboes, violins and trumpets.

Musical instruments such as guitars, which are transported in a soft case, can only be transported in the cabin on an additional seat (extra ticket).

The transportation of one wheelchair per disabled passenger is possible free of charge, but must be specified at the time of booking. Motorized wheelchairs can only be transported to a limited extent due to limited cargo capacity. The wheelchair must be in a condition that ensures safe loading and transportation. A claim for transportation only exists if the planned carriage of the wheelchair has been registered in advance, stating the dimensions and weight, and confirmed by the airline. In particular, the regulations for the transportation of dangerous goods must be complied with.
